The wait is over, the energy is real and the Big Rock Candy Mountain Retreat is ready for your arrival. Our family, friends and staff have spent the past 18 months cleaning and restoring one of the upper Current Rivers hidden gem of a campground. Established in 1998 by the late Gary Hibdon, the Big Rock Candy Mountain functioned as a local bar for most of its prior life. Although cabins were available, the attention to detail was in the hand crafted bar that is almost an exact replica of a bar located in the Soulard District of St Louis, The Shanty. A sight to behold. Fast forward 20 years and the arrival of the Franklins. Not knowm for our in the box thinking, we felt like the emphasis should be on the entire experience. Including tasefully decorated cabins and public spaces, art Installations, nature hikes and good food and beverages. Although there has been quite a bit that has been done and that has happened over the past 18 months there is more to come. Come up to the Mountain, leave your worries behind and allow this space to fill your soul and refresh your spirit.
